The ANGELICA MISSION entered its active phase on the 19th of December 2009 through the prayers and best wishes of all its sponsors. The first batch of baby Kits were packed and distributed by the I-Shiners and many volunteers who were drawn to the Cause.

  • The Kit Consisted of FOUR Nappies ( Mul Mul or Kora Cotton ), TWO Jablas/baby dresses , ONE Towel/Blanket & ONE SOAP/Powder/Powder box/Baby Oil.
  • Quality & hygiene were the top most priority while packing of the Kits.
  • The Interns at the St. Martha's Stroke Rehabilitation Centre were a great help in the sorting and packing of each Kit.
  • Each Kit was also lovingly pack by the I-Shiners ( Jisin, Vyjayanthi, Janaki, Ashfaaq, Purnima, Sneha & Nitasha) as well.
At 3pm on the 19th, the Kits were taken to the Maternity Ward, where the Sister Incharge, Sr.Rose was kind enough to give the volunteers an orientation to the working of the ward.
Many of the volunteers had seen a maternity ward for the first time. Being a general ward the cleanliness and care given at that ward was very impressive.

Sr. Rose Introduced the Volunteers to the New mothers and the I-Shiners proceeded to distribute the kits to the mothers. The mothers were very happy to receive the kits and joyfully interacted with the I-Shiners.

I-Shiner- Lakshmi also got a chance to hold a newborn !! The motto of 'Lets SHINE !! ' was very apparent !!

Then Proceeded to help out in the Shristmas Decorations and also participated in the Birthday Celebrations of a Staff member and I-Shiner , Ms. Sneha Garg.
At the End of the day, A sense of Contentment was prevalent in the eyes of the I-Shiners. The Satisfaction of seen a vision being realized is a blessing by itself. Perhaps this is what we truly mean by ' RISE & SHINE' . To be able to give a bit of our Light through our time and efforts to light the life of others... to bring a Cheer to their lives... to See the Smile of God, himself.. In the face of a baby !!

God bless the volunteers and all the sponsors for their selfless contribution and time. We pray that the ANGELICA Mission Reach more lives and bring a brighter life to many newborns in the future. Amen.

Angelica Mission - Patroness

Did you know the ANGELICA MISSION's Name came about ? The 'Angelica' Mission is dedicated to Mary, the Queen of Angels. May the good mother MARY, take care of these little angels that we service today and guide them to a happy and fruitful life . Amen.

9th December 2009 : Angelica Rising...

Its been a great few weeks with positive support pouring in.

  1. I-Shiner Vyjayanthi the ANGELICA MISSION pamphlets ( a few) which were distributed to the volunteers that came for the annual meeting on 14th Nov'09.
  2. The pamphlets were handed out to the volunteers who committed to bring in a minimum of Rs.2-3k .
  3. Costing was discussed between Sukumar and Vyjayanthi. Total spent for project by volunteers was about 15k.
  4. God willing, if we can make more than that by our sponsors, w e would be able to sustain the mission for the coming months .
  5. Discussion was there about introducing this Mission to Rotary Club or loin's club, for which, Founder-Jason was concerned of loosing the simplicity of the Mission by allowing big banners to make it a 'flashy' affair for the photographs and publicity. We remain a simple cause and the beauty of the Mission lies in the simplicity. Those who are genuinely moved by the Mission would be drawn to the cause and contribute selflessly, in the spirit of the season.
  6. Ishiner- Janaki and the new Occupational therapist for the STROKE REHAB CENTER, Ms. Jisin Jose, gave the next consecutive Saturday afternoons to pack the kits.
  7. The cover of kits still is a dilemma as we would like a cover ( that is not plastic , of-course !!) that is DURABLE, SUSTAINABLE ( remember the kits will be made and stocked for a month !) and SAFE for the babies too .
  8. A few contributions in cash have come in . Heartly thanks to all our generous benefactors.
  9. GIVING IS RECEIVING. an innovative concept followed by all Ishine Mission where the volunteers too GAIN along with the joy of Giving. This time, we have managed not only to get many people from all walks of life to help the babies, but to create , in them , a drive to learn a skill so that they can contribute. About 6-9 people, girls and boys ( Including Myself!! ) have learnt how to crochet blankets. ALL FOR A GOOD CAUSE !! I guess, this shows that goodness and LOVE , truly, knows no boundaries.
  10. We are extremely grateful for KGA ( Karnataka Goan Association ) to have taken an interest through our co-founder, Ms. Nitasha Noronha, in the ANGELICA MISSION. We hope that the good people would adopt the Angelica Cause and help sustain the joy of giving throughout the year. God bless you all
